What is the "Lions Club International"

The Lions Club International is an organization that is devoted to the community and making this a better place. They are doing this on both a local and global level when they are helping communities around the world. They are not only helping local communities in which they may have a club of the organization located, but they are also helping on a global level as well. One of the most well known projects that the Lions Club International has been involved in since the beginning is the United Nations and was even involved in the making of the United Nations Charter, making them one of the few non-government organizations that were involved in this process.

The main goals of the Lions Club International is to:

- to organize more clubs and chapters of the organization to increase their dominance in the world

- coordinating all the clubs and branches so that they are following the goals set out by the Lions Club International organization

- create a unified spirit among all those that are in the world whether they are involved with the organization or not

- promote good government practices and to promote citizens to be as good as possible for the benefit of everyone

- to take an active interest in what goes on in the community and the world as a whole

- unite all its members

- provide a way for everyone to voice their opinion on the aspects of the world, however, they must not be issues concerning religion or partisan politics

- promote high ethical standards among the community that they are part of

- encourage others to become involved to better the community and the world

The Lions Club International is open to both genders, though in the beginning it was only open to males. However, as women received more rights, they did open up their membership to them. As far as how the club helps the community, they raise lots of funds for projects that are taking place in the community. One of the things that they do not do is used this charitable funds to help support their club. Those that are members pay their own dues and make sure that they are never scraping off of the donations in order to run the club better. This is one aspect that many organizations do not follow and is one reason as to why the organization is so reputable.

For those that are members, they do have to be invited to join, however, the club seldom turns those away that are wanting to reach out a helping hand, as they believe that the more people are involved, the better they are going to have success with the goals that they are trying to accomplish. There are chapters of the Lions Club all over the world, and many people will find that while driving the roads they will see the symbol for the Lions Club that states that they are responsible for the road in this area being clean and clutter free.
